you came to me in my sleep

last evening I was your whole

being in the dark

the night played havoc

your image misty

the memory frosted

we came closer

but each emotion

kept us apart

the electric pulses

the magnetic field

every time we came to kiss

a force in a burst

trembled and we missed

I wanted to cling

your body called

your words whispered

to my sensitive wings

the gossamer shield

and to me, you'd yield

for I'd been long gone

a spirit that you held

once long ago

a fleeting love

a passing ego.
