You are 100% correct in all of those points Umair and I'm here living it. Only yesterday I argued with my local landlord & Tory Councillor on the same issues. He is in total denial, according to him its nothing to do with Brexit, it's all down to Putin, and the Wilson Government, which was in my youth of the 1960's, because they stopped building more AGR reactors for nuclear power! They are still in denial, defending the indefensible, hearts of oak will get us out of this economic disaster and other such nonsense.

On Europe, every time I try to talk people into a rejoining mindset, the answer comes back that Europe will collapse soon, they are all broke.

The right-wing press continues to spout the pro Tory rhetoric and the rest of us are traitors and republicans because we didn't shut up shop to mourn the Queen.

Ordinary people just don't believe it's the disaster it really is, they all go about their daily lives as if it's just politics, and we shouldn't bring it up in polite company or the pub. They are still riding the wave of nationalism and racism, blaming us who are 'woke' for the state of society. As soon as anyone uses that word in an argument with me I just turn away, for they are lost to any reasoned argument.

I have a bag packed and 2 passports, ready to leave at a moment's notice, but even my wife just says, "fuck off then" lost in a dream of "it can't happen here."

The only thing that might save us now is a general strike, with lots of demo's and even some rioting to bring forward a general election.
