This may be something that happens throughout all of China. I don’t know as I only lived in Beijing. But, almost every time I saw a person I knew, they’d ask, ‘Have you eaten?’

Yes! Everywhere I went, I was taken to eat. Made to try local delicacies or just be the westerner they wanted to see if I could be made to try something.
