Was This Week One of The Best Turning Points?

They say that our lives go in seven-year cycles, and coming up to my mid-seventies, I’m praying that this is the mother of all turning points, the one I’ve fought for all my life.

My life has always been a Roller Coaster from my youth, losing sight in one eye at age eleven, hospitalization, then having to put up with shit schooling on my return.

Growing into a teen in the best years of the 1960s was simply the best, the music, puberty, sex, and sport, from the age of fourteen, the rebellious years fighting the restrictions of the authorities, almost full employment when you could get a wage rise purely by changing jobs.

Then came my father’s early death, an overindulgence in drugs, a chemical depression in withdrawal from speed, and the realization that my education was lacking to get more work.

A gradual climb got me on a better track. I went through a period of travel, joining the hippy trails, backpacking across Europe, then, on return, an Acid trip that told me to get off the speed as I settled down in an industry that welcomed me into site management. Marriage, kids, a mortgage, and the perfect house in the country followed for a period. A company startup fulfilled another ambition.
