The Tory party ruthlessly exploits our corrupt voting system of first past the post in constituencies and as usual the party that wins a General Election has more votes against it than for.

When the Blair government had the chance to change to a PR system they didn't because they also had benefitted from FPTP. I sat in many local Labour party meetings where the triumphalism of the old school hard left were the ones opposing PR. They had not the foresight to see how destructive another landslide would be for either side and the Lib/Con coalition got a watered down PR referendum only to put to the electorate.

Most people seem to vote against things rather than for, so I'm hoping that once people see through this government's lies and corruption they will vote against Johnson's Tories. Not how Gove has gone to ground lately, for he must be plotting against Johnson or biding his time for a party revolt.

The Starmer Labour party is attempting to put a less extreme left point of view, but the hard Corbynites have yet to disappear. They don't seem to want to win. Starmer is a decent man of the soft centre left who gets unfairly accused of being Blairite, but he is a fair minded politician more in the Harold Wilson mindset than Blairs.

I hope that eventually the country, but especially those who fell for the nationalism of the Brexit vote, will move to oust this, the most corrupt, neo-fascist government ever. If they don't I will have to find a way to leave. A group of us have already started a British Asylum Seekers group on Facebook to create stunts such as leaving by dinghy in the opposite direction at the Channel.
