That is a brilliantly simple analogy. It should be used more often. When it comes to politics an element of the population ignores the issues and policies and just goes with a wild belief that "they all lie, & it won't happen." Surely Trump showed the way, that it would happen.
As a Brit working in China with many ex-pats, us and the Canucks all bet that the US would vote Trump back in 2016. We all knew he was corrupt, crooked and mad, but the answer we got from all our US colleagues was "I vote with my pocketbook!"
With that attitude is it any wonder that half the country voted the way they did.
I'm not saying that we are any different here either, having elected another crook in Johnson over an honest idiot in Corbyn.
