Thanks Kristle, for explaining the complexities of the voting systems to us across the pond. What happens in the USA always affects us in the UK eventually. Even now I heard that nasty Trump supporter Farage on the radio last week, complaining about mail-in ballots and how they can be manipulated. Yes they can, but rarely enough to change a trend in voting. Why is it always the right that traditionally have fought to stop people voting? All through history the right has stopped various classes from having a say, from non-property owners, through to the Suffragettes. Why? because they know how fair-minded people vote and mostly for liberality of thought and just causes.
Trump has already stated that if this level of mail-in voting is allowed you'll never get another Republican elected. I doubt that, but it might sway the party to be a lot more representative of the people, or change many of its policies.
