Thanks for that list, you just added to my 'must reads' & The Bluest Eye looks like being the first.
I'd already read some of the others, and watched the TV series of Roots and The Colour Purple.
The best literature often gets banned because it is so enticingly good to us readers.
The judgemental, usually conservative, right wing, are mostly the culprits. They never banned Mein Kampf or a few other's like the Learned Elders of Zion, but where a book shocks their world opinion, they don't like their own kids to learn.
If it offends those people then I make a point of reading.
