The English Trip, and The 125-Year-Old Oak Tree

It was early July when we got the invitation to fly to London to sign a publishing and movie rights deal. Sandra had been in charge of my contracts and surprised me when she announced that we could also celebrate my birthday and spend a few days at my old stamping ground in rural Essex county after. We flew from JFK airport directly to Amsterdam Schiphol on an overnight flight, we couldn’t get up to any of our mile-high antics, as we flew coach but at least we had some good legroom and could snuggle up close, with just the occasional teasing touches under the airline’s blanket. I refuse to fly British Airways as I’ve had so many bad experiences with them in the past and Schiphol is a good airport with great shops and restaurants for breakfast and coffee. We could use Amsterdam as a stopover for a few days on our return as I have always found that city a fun place. Our final destination was London Heathrow another awful airport to go with my experiences of the national carrier. We took the express train into Paddington Station and arrived at the nearby Marriott Hotel in Park Lane by mid-morning.

After we checked into our room we took a nice relaxing shower together, as was our travel ritual, then we relaxed in the big Queen size bed for a couple of hours. Sandra had called our local contact to…
