Oh Yes! Probably even worse than a tourist, more likely a PITA, and we'll dig in and delay any semblance of service, especially if the boss ain't looking.
I had a Texan client who used to visit clients with me in the UK & he would be very forceful in attempting to get what he wanted. In one very busy pub where we tried to geta late Sunday lunch, we were told that they were that busy that they could not take any bookings even for 1 hour. We were out in the sticks and there was nowhere else that would possibly have cooked at that time, but he was up at the counter, dead on the hour and verbally berated the poor girl, "You said 1 hour," and pointed to his watch. She took our orders, but I had to wait until he was away in the toilets to apologise to the poor girl, and sort of explain about how Texans are, and give her a tip. If I hadn't done that, I dreaded to think what would have happened to his dinner out in the kitchen!!!
She was quite amazed to even get a tip, as that is not usually done with pub food ordered at the bar, so she was bought off. Never ever complain until after in England as you don't know what they will put in your food.
