I’m all for that system. It empowers local people to work in their community. We do have a system in the UK of Parish Councils, which could be geared to a similar system. I can see how it would work in the USA. As is stated in that piece the system you have is just benefitting a clique of super-rich and the electoral college has worked unfairly. Similarly in the UK, our constituency boundaries and first past the post in those for MP’s is geared to give one-party dominance. We need a more proportional system of representation which is more inclusive.

Good luck with TDG but I don’t intend to stay in the UK while it burns itself to the ground.
