I overheard a pub conversation the other night.

A customer and a barmaid liked Trump because of his order that there will only be 2 genders, male or female.

I looked up from my phone and said to the woman, "So, you are ok with him being a rapist, conman, crook and fraudster then because of that?"

I got the old answer, "All of those politicians are."

It's their get out of jail excuse, a standard response from someone who never examines detail in their politics, it's all on entrenched emotions.

She said it openly during our discussion, "But you're a lefty." As if that explained all my breakdowns of policies.

It's not even worth trying any more I just point out the odd ridiculous part of their views or statements, but it's tribal now, and this is in the UK.

I despair.

According to old, now ex-pals of some 60 years, I'm a woke, loony lefty, liberal.

You know what though, I'm proud of that. I can think for myself and empathise with those less fortunate.
