I love these examples of the differences. Coming from the UK, some of those USA items are still prevalent here.

Carpet certainly.

Having lived for a long time in Asia, I got used to the tiled and marble floors and loved them, a quick vac or just a swab around with a mop or flat polisher and they are clean.

In the UK we are trending more to hardwood, laminate, or polished concrete and away from carpets. The trend for synthetic carpet materials has increased allergies.

In hotter climates bare tiled floors have a cooling effect, maybe that is the reason that cooler countries trend to a fabric covering.

For showers, they have to be removeable for hand holding. Again in Asia the difference is for a hand held bidet attachment adjacent to the toilet that is used to clean the bottom. It saves on the use of toilet tissue paper and must be far more environmentally friendly. I brought one of these back from Asia to fit in my UK toilet, but the cold water here does make you wince at the first rush. 😁
