I just couldn't get my head around that whole story. Surely someone could have stepped in?
In London once, I was asked to assist in stopping an old guy get a beating from a young guy at a crowded station, by a guy I was with, but we had to push our way through a ring of onlookers doing nothing to get to him. Not many people want to assist in many situations.
I wanted to help a girl who had a motorbike accident in Thailand, but my girlfriend dragged me away, saying "you don't know her" but as others had stopped I stayed back. I felt guilty because I did have some first aid knowledge, but she explained that it might have been difficult for me when the police arrived.
The human psyche is strange isn't it?
