I am one of the most liberal, equality minded, non-judgemental boomers around but I must have been away somewhere when actresses became actors and heroines became heroes, I really don't get the need for that. I also had an editor change the references in my books where 'girls' were mentioned, to 'women', wtf?

My wife and her pals are in their late 60's and still "go out with the girls" so if I'm writing a situation in my novel like that based on real people's actions and dialogue, why change it? That editor told me she was trying to give my book a wider appeal, go figure!

These changes in society will come gradually and naturally but those instances are just as petty, and small-minded, and as judgemental as those I've rebelled against my whole life.
