Because her views are well known, she is trying to fool the rest of the centre to move to her nationalistic/fascist views, similar tactics to Johnson in the UK.

I trust the French voters, they are usually more sensible in the round, as they did to her father, with their "Vote for the crook" slogans that got Chirac elected. They hold their noses and vote for the lesser extremist.

Thank God for the French system.
