Advice Needed On My Erotic Novels

I used to like the erotic novels of a few others, I found them relaxing as tales, sexy and a pleasant way of being quite open about sexual freedom. I found the books by Vanessa Wu and Eden Baylee really romantic, and true to life. It was probably not a coincidence that they are both of Chinese heritage and I was also living and working in Asia at the time. I found their openness refreshing. Their writing was also so much better than most so-called western erotic romances that I’d read. The sex although detailed was beautifully described, not harsh.

I had some correspondence with Vanessa and she was very helpful with advice on aspects of my own writing. After running my first novel by her I published “Desert Loves” with the Nom de Plume Byron George and went on to publish “Tales From The BanNana Bar” and “Desert Loves 2", in the meantime I published my more traditional adventures as Brian George keeping the 2 genres separate. Although my straight novels are still quite spicy in parts they are less focussed on the sexual element. The main characters are definitely sexy and unconventional, being openly troilist or polyamorous but the story is the thing.

My dilemma is now that I am re-publishing all of my works plus a couple of new novels I am building my web profile and want to show my readers how prolific I am and get more exposure, do I re-publish the erotic novels under Brian George along with the more normal adventures and lose the Byron George persona? I still use Byron as a character in the erotica series but feel now that I should be openly proud of all my works and not hide behind a pseudonym.

My Dream Team series is being re-published as a trilogy now as “Face and Justice,” “Face and Honour” and “Face, Fire and Morality.” I’m gradually getting them back from my earlier publishers and getting a wider distribution. I did another crossover from erotic to adventure for the NaNoWriMo competition which has had some great reviews from advance readers and feel that as I will have 8 novels plus some poems, which are of a more esoteric and spiritual nature I should get them all onto my website as me.

I guess that I was half ashamed of the erotica because of the reactions of others when I started out selling them locally. The usual “he writes porn” comments and sniggers, plus friends and family thinking that they were true and about me made me hide them away.

Do any of you others who write on here in the more erotic genres have the same reactions, and do you also write under Noms de Plumes?
